The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Vancouver Island (SSVP) is a registered charity whose mission is to deliver material and personal support to the poor with the intention of creating a more just society. SSVP operates a series of successful thrift stores, as well as a social housing program that builds and operates affordable housing units. The society currently operates over 120 units across three sites in the Capital Regional District.
SSVP owns 2874 Claude Road, a 19,622 sq. ft. site, currently occupied by one of its thrift stores. The site is located in downtown Langford. The two adjacent properties to the north were recently re-zoned to permit a 10-storey building. The City of Langford has indicated similar height and density would be supported for redevelopment at 2784 Claude Road.
M’akola Development Services has secured seed funding for this project and is working with SSVP through the pre-development phase of this project to secure appropriate zoning and site due diligence.
