Charla Huber, Indigenous Protocol Liaison

Charla has a strong ability to work cross-culturally, across a range of Indigenous communities and utilizes her writing, interpersonal, and communication skills to build relationships with M’akola’s First Nations partners. She plays a key role in the development and implementation of strategies for engagement with Indigenous communities both locally, and across the province. Charla advises M’akola staff and external groups on protocol and sensitivity when engaging and working with Aboriginal clients.

Charla also oversees internal and external communications at M’akola. She engages with the media, prepares responses to media queries, and releases briefing material for each major milestone in M’akola development projects. Charla brings her background as an award-winning journalist and photographer to her role as Communications Coordinator. Charla has been published in various newspapers and magazines across North America.
