Garry Sam brings his Indigenous relations and communications skills to the M’akola Development Services team. He is member of Songhees Nation and his experience working within his own community helps him to understand the importance of communications for building and maintaining relationships with and within Indigenous communities. Garry is an elected councillor for Songhees Nation. His skills, expertise and experiences are an asset to our team, our clients and our communities. Garry sits on a number of board of directors for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous endeavours and he is working to build bridges and understanding between communities. He has significant experience undertaking community engagements, hosting events, and working collaboratively with people from different backgrounds, experiences and skills.
Garry has always been taught the value of education, and is currently learning his own language, lək̓ʷəŋiʔnəŋ, and attending the University of Victoria, pursuing a Bachelors of Arts, with a major in Sociology and minor in Indigenous Studies. He holds a Diploma in Indigenous Studies from Camosun College.
