Our team is supporting M’akola Housing Society (MHS) to develop a 61–unit building on Bellis Road in Prince Rupert, BC. The project will offer a mix of unit types, including studios and 1– to 4-bedroom units, and will offer four accessible units. In alignment with MHS’s mission, the project will provide culturally safe and inclusive housing for Indigenous people and families.
The project will directly address the need for purpose-built multi-family rental housing, specifically for Indigenous households who are disproportionally affected by the current lack of housing options and will continue to be pushed into unaffordable and unsuitable housing as demand continues to increase.
This project has received $23.3 million in funding from BC Housing’s Indigenous Housing Fund, and $4.3 million in funding from CMHC’s Affordable Housing Fund.
