CULTURAL & COMMUNITY IMPACT
The project has been designed to facilitate aging in place for seniors with fixed, moderate and low incomes.
M’akola Development Services (MDS) supported Dawson Heights Housing Ltd. to redevelop eight senior’s cottages in Saanich, BC.
The project replaced the existing cottages with a four storey 85-unit building, expanding Dawson Heights Housing Ltd.’s capacity for providing housing and services to seniors. The project is located within the Shelbourne Corridor in Saanich, in an area that is conducive for further development of seniors’ housing to support aging in place. The project was designed to ensure that natural areas around the development are protected.
The M’akola Development Services team was responsible for leading the rezoning and permit processes, development planning, and construction analysis as the project evolves. The Dawson Heights project is on the traditional territory of the Songhees and WSÁNEĆ people.
