M’akola Development Services (MDS) worked with the Aboriginal Housing Society of Prince George (AHSPG) to develop a new three-storey, wood frame residential building in Prince George, BC. The development is called Ts’oo Yoh, which means House of Spruce.
The development consists of 27 self-contained one-bedroom units geared towards seniors/Elders in the region, along with ground floor office space and a residential common room for tenant use. The building also features Indigenous artwork integrated throughout the building, and a community garden. Construction was completed in summer of 2018.
MDS prepared funding applications, securing funding from both the federal and provincial government to mobilize the project through to construction and operations. MDS also consolidated and rezoned the property, procured the full design consulting team and construction manager, managed the capital budget (soft and hard costs), and provided construction administration services.
