M’akola Housing Society partnered with MDS to build this multifamily housing project in Terrace. The three-storey residential building includes 47 units of affordable housing, with a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units available for Indigenous families, seniors, and individuals. Included in the building is a common amenity room on the main floor, a bicycle storage room, and office space for building staff. A playground and amenity area are also available outside of the building for tenants. The building was designed and constructed to BC Building Code Step Code 3 requirements.
MHS successfully secured funding for the Project through BC Housing’s Indigenous Housing Fund in 2018. Boni Maddison Architects led the design process as the Project architect and IDL Projects Inc. provided construction services. Construction started in August 2021 with the building operations in Spring 2023.
